青龙山恐龙化石群的地质年代与大山铺恐龙化石群大致相当。在探测性发掘的范围内，化石层叠堆积，连续分布。多数为峨眉龙，还有肉食性恐龙及蛇颈龙的牙齿化石。在方丘湾、胖泥冲一带的砂岩陡壁上，化石层露头随处可见，其出露面积之大，国内罕见。这对于弥补全球中侏罗世恐龙化石较为缺乏，解决大山铺恐龙化石群研究中存在的争议性问题，具有重要而特殊的意义。

The dinosaur fauna in Qinglongshan is roughly equal in geological age to the Dashanpu dinosaur faunas. Within the exploring excavation areas, the fossil-bearing strata are continuously and widely distributed, the fossils are dominated by Omeisaurus, carnivorous dinosaurs and teeth of plesiosaurids. This area is of important and specific significance in supplementary the Middle Jurassic dinosaur fossils and solving scientific debates on the Dashanpu dinosaur faunas.
